ABOUT GP2 SERIES

gp-logo-all

The GP2 Series was created by Bernie Ecclestone, Flavio Briatore and Bruno Michel, to provide an opportunity for young drivers to showcase their racing abilities in front of the F1 paddock. The GP2 Main Series was established in 2005 and the winter GP2 Asia Series in 2008.

The GP2 Series is the best school and springboard for the highest level in motorsport, Formula 1. As many former GP2 drivers’ graduation to F1 underline, the target has been achieved fast and well (Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Timo Glock, Nico Hülkenberg, Heikki Kovalainen, Nelson Picquet Jr., Vitaly Petrov, Kamui Kobayashi).

The GP2 Main Series 2011 run alongside Formula One for all of its 9 meetings calendar and the GP2 Asia Series 2011 for 1 of its 3 meetings calendar.
